Jim Richardson's 7M
( click on picture to see larger )
Jim writes to us about his 7M: 7M
Trumpet Balanced Serial Number 622787. Bought new by me in 1960 in Belfast for a
sum of £69.00 if my memory serves me correctly. Completely refurbished about 15
years ago for £150.00. Still used as my practice instrument on a daily basis. It
has a great valve action and plays as well as when I bought it. It is one of the
best trumpets I have ever owned and can easily hold its own with the Besson New
Creation or the Bach Stradivarius.

Silver-plated and Engraved
Citation
Tom Olson sent us these pictures
of his Citation, serial 1128. He says, "It was a gift from a
friend of mine who is a professional musician in Madison, WI and
also creates reconditioned valve trombones. His name is Bob Ramsdell."
This horn is beautiful!

Stephen Hemple's
Academy , 5C Cornet and 4M
Stephen says in his email with
pictures: Academy trumpet purchased from USA - just had it
overhauled and lacquered and it plays good - not quite as well as
say the Olds Ambassador but still a respectable student horn.
Also a 5c cornet awaiting restoration, European made for John E
Dallas the UK distributor. Finally a 4m [balanced model I
presume] again made for Dallas which seems very French, a lot of
similar work to Selmer, Courtois, etc

Peter Millar's 7M Trumpet
Peter says: "The
instrument is fitted with a 13c mouthpiece and is in very nice
condition and I have owned it since 1961 when I bought it second
hand in Glasgow. Unfortunately I am no longer able to play it, due
to asthma, but I occasionally allow other players to use it so that
I can hear it's lovely tone again. Needless to say they appreciate
the opportunity to play such a fine instrument."

David Carter sends photos of
Silver-plated 7M
We received an email from David Carter who
says,
"Hello I just came across your site and have read through most of it's
content. I have a 7M (Serial no. 3567) which I bought in the early 1970's. I had
it restored and re-plated in about 1976, but was never really happy with the
quality of the work. Although I don't play it now, I'm interested in finding out
a little more about it's history and also wondering whether to have it more
professionally restored. Any advice and information would be very welcome. If
you would like some photographs of it, I'd be happy to send some.
Regards, David Carter"

Tim Wygant's Rudy
No model name or #

Tim had this to say about his Rudy
These are photos of a restored Rudy Mück trumpet bought in
Easton, PA in 1948. There is no model name listed on the horn,
just the “USA Map” logo and “New York, USA” below the map. The
serial number is 1xxx and it originally cost $250, plus an
additional $50 for the case.
This was my dad’s trumpet in high school (East Stroudsburg High
School) and has seen much
use (and some unintentional abuse) by many family trumpeters
over the past 59 years. It’s been overhauled three times and is
now in a state of semi-retirement, occupying a place of honor on
the instrument wall in my home office. I still play it several
times a year as I believe that the soul of an instrument will
continue to live as long as it’s lovingly played.
What a
wonderful tribute!
