Rudy Mück early horns compared with Bach NY
Stradivarius horns |
|||
There have been many references at various places that the early Rudy Mück trumpets and cornets were copies of Bach NY Stradivarius and other models. One such source is Erik Veldkamp who says of his Rudy Mück #1619: "Valve section for sure same as used by Bach (original Bach trumpets in 1920s used valve assemblies made by his friend and instrument maker Blessing) Bell might be Bach"
Trumpets: in the right picture of trumpets, the silver horn is the Bach as well as the bottom lacquered one. Rudy's copies seem to favor the Bach Model 7-10-26 Strad. In the rightmost picture, the bottom horn is the Bach.
Cornets: in the right picture of cornets, the top one and the bottom ones are Bachs. The top one is a NY and the bottom a Mt. Vernon. In the rightmost picture, the top one is the Bach (please excuse the poor photos -- we'll try to get better ones later on) Most all of the parts interchange on the horns and the differences are very slight. As Niles Eldredge told us, his Citation plays better than any Bach he ever knew!
