Rudy Mück Mouthpiece Replicas - Where to Find Them

We received emails this past month from many fans about where to get Rudy Mück mouthpieces.  At the bottom of this page, we've had a link to all things Rudy on Ebay.

As well, we've been contacted by a company whose story is below.  Most of you have heard of the 2nd Generation Rudy mouthpieces which are copies of some of the Rudy mouthpieces which were scanned in and made and sold by many vendors including our favorite vendor of these 2nd Generation pieces,

There you will find a nice explanation of how Dick Akright has made these replicas.  Their selection includes:

You can find these elsewhere but Dillons has the best prices we've seen on these.

Now, enter IYM Corp. of Ridgewood, NJ.  Tony of IYM Corp tells us:

"In the course of handling an assignment to modernize the instruments for a band association, we found several Rudy Mück vintage mouthpieces. These brought fond memories to several of our staff who had played on them for many years. By chance, we met an individual who recognized these legendary mouthpieces. He mentioned that he knew the Rudy Muck family. We arranged a meeting and learned that they still held the original design materials. Although they felt that Rudy Mück's ideas were still sound, they had no interest in undertaking the marketing and manufacturing challenges needed to re-introduce the mouthpiece. They shared their design material with us and were pleased that, once again, the original Rudy Muck mouthpieces would become available through our efforts. And so, we have re-introduced the original Rudy Mück Classic Cushion Rim mouthpieces to the original specs. Also, our mouthpieces are the only ones to have been granted important trademark status."

Tony tells us they currently are producing a 17C trademarked replica trumpet mouthpiece. a 21C tenor trombone mouthpiece and are introducing a tuba model which is the rarest design and almost impossible to locate an any condition.  That's very true -- we only have 1 of these and have never seen another!  To see IYM Corp's trademark replicas please visit here:

Well, now you have 3 resources to find these mouthpieces.  To find the vintage ones, Ebay is the place to go.  For well-made replicas, choose your type --2nd generation or the trademarked 17C trumpet mouthpieces.  For some interesting reading, we have a mouthpiece comparison page where we've taken measurements on various vintage and 2nd generation mouthpieces.  See here:

( most common account found - is it accurate? )

Rudy was a professional trumpet player in New York City during the 1920's and 1930's. He operated in New York City from 1930-1950.

Born 1907 in Moravia and trained by his father as a Brass repairman. Came to the US in 1911. established company in 1930 and built Custom rim mouthpieces starting in 1932. Appears that Carl Fisher bought out in the 1950's?

Rudy Mück worked with Vincent Bach but opened a shop right next door to the Bach NY factory and with the help of Vincent Bach, built the Rudy Mück Citation.
